"KNIGHT VISION" TV HAS ARRIVED!
by posted 09/02/2010

Dear Members and Participants,

As we continue to increase the quality of our families youth hockey experience, there will be new ideas introduced throughout the season beginning this weekend.

Watching your child's game on a computer connected to your big screen is now a reality as OYHA is pleased to introduce "Knight Vision" TV!

"Knight Vision" will be broadcasting select games from the Olympic rink for this tournament in addition to future games held at RDV Sportsplex.  This is a brand new venture that provides numerous possibilities for training, fundraising, recruiting, viewership, and exposure for our club.

I am very excited about this next step and wish to thank my fellow board members, RDV Sportsplex, Harry Brockman, and Live Sports Video for making this happen.

PATIENCE PLEASE - there are surely going to be some issues that arise during our first attempt at broadcasting and there will be a learning curve for everyone.  We have a limited amount of personnel and hardware at our disposal for this weekend's broadcast so your patience is needed.

We are not planning on using a commentator for our initial broadcast weekend but you will be hear the sounds of the crowd.

You will need to complete the free registration on the site to view the game.  Thank you for making OYHA your "place to play" and enjoy the weekend.

Rob Kenny Tribute - "A Golden Salute"
by posted 08/31/2010

Dear Participants,

This past month the Golden Wolves unexpectedly lost a devoted hockey coach and a family lost their father / husband far too early.

Rob Kenny began playing youth hockey at the age of 8 in the Bronx.  He followed his dream that led him from Division 1 Northeastern University and to the professional level where he was signed by his hometown NY Rangers spending three years with the organization.

While playing professionally in California, Rob met his wife and they soon began a family.  After his playing days they located to South Florida where they raised their three children (two boys and daughter) and he became an active member of the youth hockey community.

For the past ten years, Rob coached the Golden Wolves Club taking several teams to both the state and national finals.  He was also a co-owner and founder of Pinnacle Hockey Group.

OYHA will have a 50/50 raffle during the tournament with all proceeds going to the Kenny family.  As a tribute to Rob, a moment of silence will be observed before the first game for each Golden Wolves team.

Please join us as we offer our condolences to the entire Kenny family.

How to synchronize your team schedule with Outlook
by posted 08/20/2009

For those of you that can’t live without your tech toys – there’s a real handy feature on the Web site that allows you to synchronize the team schedule to Outlook and your cell phone.

There are a couple different ways you can perform this synchronization.

Automatic

When you are looking at your team's schedule page on the Web site, you’ll see a header with 3 buttons.  The button on the left  says "Subscribe to an iCal feed for this schedule".  This button allows you to set up an automatic feed that synchronizes the schedule to Outlook.  If you have Outlook synchronized with your cell phone, it will then automatically synchronize with your cell phone.  Click here to find out how to set it up.

Manual

The other option is a manual export/import.  Use the blue arrow button for this operation.  .  The site allows you to download the schedule to a .csv file.   Once you have the schedule saved to a .csv file, you can import it into Outlook.

To import the schedule data into Outlook, use the Outlook File/Import and Export menu commands.  The resulting dialog box allows you to choose what action to perform.  Choose "Import from another program or file" and click "Next".  The next screen prompts you for the type of file to import.  Choose "Comma Separated Values (DOS)" and click "Next".  On the next screen, enter the path and file name of the .csv file you downloaded previously.  You can also choose how duplicate events are handled.  Choose "Replace duplicates".  After you press "Next" again, you'll be prompted for the folder to import into.  Choose your "Calendar" from the list and press "Next" and then ""Finish" on the following screen.  Your calendar should now contain all the game and practice events from your schedule.

Remember, this is a manual operation, not automatic synchronization.  This means that when there are changes to your schedule (e.g. when tournament games are added to the schedule) you'll need to export the schedule again and re-import it into Outlook.
