CFHL
Night with
the Tampa Rays |
 |
On Saturday, June 21, 2008 the CFHL will be
having an end of season party in conjunction with the
Tampa Bay Rays
baseball team.
Each CFHL arena will be selling tickets to the Rays/ Houston Astros game for
$16 each with a portion of each ticket sold being returned to the CFHL as a
fund raiser. 100% of the funds raised will be used to help defray the
expense of travel for your Tournament Teams being formed for the first time
this season by the CFHL.
By giving these funds to the Tournament Teams along with the arena owners
generous donation of practice ice it helps insure the cost of participating
on one of the teams hopefully will be within reach of all our players
pocketbooks.
This is where all of you come into the picture, we are asking for your
participation in the party at the Rays game, a turnout of 1,000 CFHL
members, players and parents would be the minimum we are hoping for, of
course anything above that number would be greatly appreciated.
We believe the return for the dollar spent is outstanding, for the $16
dollar spent you receive:
1.) Ticket to the ballgame
2.) The first 10,000 fans to enter the ballpark will receive free Rays
sunglasses.
3.) Interactive activities in left field street.
4.) Rays touch tank in centerfield
5.) Postgame concert featuring Kool & the Gang.
The Rays have requested that all the CFHL players wear their team jerseys as
they will feature our group periodically on the scoreboard screen and the
jerseys will make us readily recognizable.
Tickets may be purchased from your CFHL hockey organization and we are
requesting that all sales be made by June 5th, 2008 so we have tickets in
time to distribute to all teams prior to the end of the CFHL season.
The CFHL board of directors would like to thank all our organizations with
helping to collect the monies and distribute tickets to their teams we
realize that is a large task, and we would also like to thank the arena
owners for their contribution of ice time and the Rays for helping us put
together this fun day for all our players and parents.
Finally we would like to invite all our in-house teams to participate if
they desire, see your local hockey director for ticket information for your
team.
This should be a fantastic way for all the CFHL teams that compete against
each other all year to sit down for a relaxing, fun day and really get to
know the players from all the arenas.
Thank you for your anticipated positive response to this venture, and we
hope to see all of you at the game, CFHL Board of Directors.
Central
Florida Hockey League Tournament Teams
The Central Florida Hockey League Board of
Directors voted unanimously at the March board meeting to create and oversee
two Tournament Teams, one Bantam and one Midget U-16 for the 2008/2009
playing season.
Any player at these age levels that is on the roster of a CFHL A team or a
SAHL AA team playing out of a CFHL arena for the 2008/2009 season will be
eligible to tryout for these teams.
Tryouts for the Bantam team will be held at TBSA on Saturday, August 2nd
from 1:15 to 3:15 p.m., and the Midget U-16 tryout will be on August 3rd at
Brandon from 12:00-2:00 p.m. cost for the tryouts will be $30 per player.
The teams will have a limited number of practices (between 2 and 4) and will
attend two AAA tournaments, hopefully one within driving distance and the
other to the Michigan/ Chicago area to participate against the best
competition available.
All practices and games will be scheduled on a weekend that will not
interfere with the players registered teams league play.
The arenas have agreed to donate tryout and practice ice for these teams as
they will be representing all of us during the tournaments.
All funds collected at tryouts will be donated to the teams to help defray
the cost of travel, so in reality the money collected for tryouts is being
donated by the arena owners in the form of free ice time.
The CFHL has also planned a fund raiser to help defray travel and room
expenses for the players representing your leagues at these tournaments.
The CFHL Board of Directors made the decision to ask for donated ice time
from the arena owners and running a fund raiser so the costs for these teams
would be as low as possible so that hopefully every player in our
participating arenas would be able to afford this opportunity not just the
higher income level family.
This is an experimental year to see if our highest ability level player is
capable of competing against the best nationwide, it could be expanded or
dropped completely in future years based on the results of this seasons
teams.
Please realize that this is a combined effort of 6 ice arenas and many
hockey organizations working in co-operation with each other, rather than
competing against each other that will make this a very worthwhile
experience for the players involved, that in itself should be applauded.
Coach selections will be posted as soon as possible and hopefully we will
see large numbers of players at the tryouts to vie for a spot to help the
CFHL showcase our top players nationwide.
If any CFHL parent has any corporate connections that may want to help
defray any portion of the costs of this venture, large or small, please
contact you arena hockey director or Allan Hunter at TBSA (813) 854-4010 on
Mondays or Tuesdays from noon to 7:00 p.m.
Thanks for your anticipated participation, CFHL Board of Directors.
